I recently appliqued this baby top and burp cloth for a friend’s baby shower. Although sadly it’s not a fully handmade present (which I would prefer), it is a way of buying something very simple and cheap and giving it a homemade and unique touch (when short of time).
-To make something like the above, simply cut out desired shapes or patterns in your chosen fabric (you can find simple images on the internet and use as a stencil). Iron on ‘heat and bond’ to the fabric and then iron on your t-shirt, burp cloth or bib. Then sew around the edge either by hand or machine.
The design will naturally fray a little but this just adds to the look of the garment.
